Shop Productions

Once a year, Make/Shift will assist a maker who has completed a Spotlight Series to carry their project into the next phase of development. This transition could take on many forms: a staged reading of a play shifting into a full-on production, a casual concert into a recorded EP, or a reading of a screenplay becoming a finished short film.

Take Care

a new play by Austin Riley
with original music by Cameron Noble

JUNe 2019
THe Tank Theater

Our upcoming Shop Production features two of our oldest makers, Austin Riley and Cameron Noble.

Austin has been workshopping Take Care through Make/Shift’s programming for the last two and a half years. After well over a year of bringing in material to Working Titles , his play featured in Spotlight Series.

Now, we are fostering a collaboration between Austin and singer/songwriter Cameron Noble, who’s original music has made a similar trajectory through Make/Shift’s programming. His songs on love and heartbreak compliment Austin’s writing beautifully, and Make/Shift is excited to implement them as the soundtrack to this production.

Cameron’s soundtrack will be recorded into an album and Austin’s play will have a fully-realized production.

About Take Care

Take Care tells the story of a love that was never meant to be. On the night that J finally has the courage to pick up her camera again, R, her ex, shows up at her door, determined to fix what went wrong between them. As they go back and forth between hurting and helping each other, flashes of the past show us their highs and lows together, and we wonder: when your plans for your life seem to be your destiny, what could possibly go wrong?

About AUSTIN RILEY

Austin Riley is a New York based playwright, actor, and teaching artist. He graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts in 2016, where he studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Since then, Austin has gone on teach acting and play writing in elementary and middle schools throughout the city, as well as on Rikers Island. As a longtime member of what has now become Make/Shift, Austin is very excited for his debut play Take Care to get the Make/Shift treatment, and doesn't think it could be in better hands.

About CAMERON NOBLE

Cameron Noble is a graduate of NYU's BFA Acting program where he trained at the Stonestreet Film Studio and Conservatory, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Since graduating in 2016 he has been honing his craft and expanded his creative expressions to include more music in his work. While singing and songwriting has been a passion of his since grade-school, Cameron has only recently taken to the stage to share his work with the world. His music focuses on love and affection, heartbreak and nostalgia. While these topics are common in music, Cameron's unique take leaves audiences speechless, often lost in thought or reflection.
