Spotlight Series: Miranda Palumbo

  • Dramatists Guild Foundation Music Hall (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Please join us at the Dramatists Guild Foundation Music Hall for our next Spotlight Series of the 2018-19 season: a ‘semi-staged’ reading of Miranda Palumbo's new play, Your Own Woman, with a group feedback session to follow. We’ll be treating this like a focus group more than a public performance—come be a part of a (very impressive) evolving piece of theatre!

We ask for a $5-$10 donation at the door to support our programing, but any amount is welcomed.

About Your Own Woman

Kate Hunter knows who she is, what she wants, and how to get it. But when she hits roadblocks in her fertility and can’t check off the items on her own list of what it takes to be a “real woman,” how does that affect her relationships and how she views herself? Your Own Woman examines the intersection of the biological, societal, and personal definitions of womanhood.

Directed by Gabbi Grenell.

Spotlight Series: E.J. Meehan

Please join us for the first Spotlight Series of the 2018-19 season: a public reading of Eric Meehan's new play, A New ColossusWe ask for a $5-$10 donation, but any amount is welcomed.

About A New Colossus

A deconstruction of modern American mythology, A New Colossus follows four storylines, each orbiting around the figure of Superman. It weaves together a mourning brother and sister, a superhero and his alter ego, a barren wasteland where the past doesn't seem to exist, a national uprising, an atomic bomb, and the construction of a new statue. As the storylines interweave, the collective fiction that binds our world together starts to come into conflict with reality, threatening to destroy the whole structure. But how far are those on top willing to go to retain their authority, and will anything be left behind?

About E.J. Meehan

E.J. Meehan is a New York-based playwright. His work includes NSA (The Dixon Place Hot! Fest) Beat Bobby Flay (Undiscovered Countries), The Blood of Zeus (The Alchemical Theatre Laboratory), Renovation (ESPA Detention series at The Cherry Lane Theatre), and The Great Caper (Stadlerfest 2014 at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting). E.J. has a BFA in Acting from NYU.
